A NOTE FROM THE COMPOSER

Ken Hanko, the author of this blog, has graciously offered me the opportunity to publish my Psalm settings on his website.

You may wonder why two settings of most of the psalms, one by Mr. Hanko and one by myself. Mr. Hanko’s settings are versifications of the psalms set to existing hymn tunes in standard meters. Though he has tried to be as faithful to the text as possible, the constraints of the existing metrical forms have forced changes to the actual text of the psalm. The same holds true for all metrical Psalm books. I have composed most of the tunes below to fit the Psalm and, thus, have been able to stay somewhat closer to the original texts.

My settings are under copyright. If you are interested in using any of them, please contact me by email at sawyerdns@juno.com. Please feel free also to contact me with suggestions for improvements regarding text and music.

I hope that you will find the settings edifying in your family worship and even in your congregational singing.
